A drink spot for a small desk
Make room for the work before deciding where a cup holder belongs.

Start with the objects you use
Keep the keyboard, mouse or trackpad and current task in their natural positions. Move unused items before moving essential controls to make space for a drink. Small desks often have plenty of apparent room that disappears during normal use.
Measure usable space, not the desk’s total size
Measure the clear width and depth at the intended drink spot. Steadi’s entire 5.2-inch base needs support, plus additional hand and edge clearance. Space underneath a monitor shelf is only useful if the drink can be placed and lifted without striking it.
Choose the tradeoff deliberately
A freestanding base uses desktop space but needs no installation. A compatible clamp can move the drink off the top but needs suitable mounting geometry. A separate side surface takes floor space and must stay clear of chair movement. None is the best answer for every small desk.
Test your reach before committing
With the proposed spot empty, rehearse reaching there while sitting normally. Check whether your forearm crosses the keyboard, your mouse hand sweeps into it or the chair catches the area. This checks the layout; it is not a product stability test.
Know when to leave drinks elsewhere
If your only available spot is beside exposed electronics, on a narrow shelf or at a precarious edge, use another stable surface. Steadi does not make an unsuitable location suitable or turn a drink into a sealed container.
